Gato Negro Rich and smooth with a dark chocolate finish.
This is the go to coffee for dark roast lovers. It is super smooth and chocolaty. It is versatile enough for all brewing methods and it is great straight or with milk.
This coffee is grown in the Sierra Madre Mountains of Southern Mexico in the Chiapas region. It is grown by a cooperative group of farmers who work together as the Unión de Ejidos Profesor Otilio Montaño, or UDEPOM, for short. Ninety-nine percent of the Union members are native Mayan, indigenous from Mache, Tzotzi, Tojolaba, Jaleco and Tzeltal origins. The coffee is grown at between 4,800 and 5,400 feet in altitude and is comprised of family farms between one and ten acres. Each worker in the Union is paid on a work-share basis, rather than by farm yield.Commonwealth Sweet, powerful, roasted nut, spiced hot chocolate. A supremely versatile dark roast that is great in every brewing method including espresso preparation.

We LOVE Indian coffees. If you are a fan of super smooth, low acidity coffees that spotlight chocolate and nut flavors, Indian coffees set the bar.
We have worked directly the Shankar Family who produces the Kalledevarapura and Aspinwall who produces the Monsooned Malabar since the mid 1990's. The relationships we have established with both of these producers are among the very first direct trade relationships within the specialty coffee trade.

We have created this sampler to highlight the profound differences that typify the flavor profiles of coffees from the three major coffee growing regions from around the world — Asia, Africa and The Americas.
Traditionally, coffees from Asia tend to be quite heavy in body, while coffees from Africa highlight vibrancy, or acidity, and coffees from The Americas are a balance of the two.
Each of these selections are light roast coffees. Our delicate roast treatment allows each coffee’s character to shine through in the cup.
Coffees from The Americas are typically very well balanced. These coffees are smooth in character with aromas and flavors ranging from berry to chocolate. Because of their balanced nature, these coffees work well with most brewing processes from Chemex to Bodum Chambourd and they are great black or paired with milk (from almond to High Lawn).
Coffees from Asia tend to be heavy bodied and their aromas and flavors feature qualities of nut and chocolate. Each of these coffees is great black yet pairs equally well with your favorite kind of milk (from almond to High Lawn.) We favor using the Bodum Chambourd when preparing heavy bodied coffees such as these.
If you enjoy traditional roast forward coffee profiles, this sampler is for you.
Our approach to dark roasts has as much to do with the character of each coffee we select as it does about their ultimate roast treatment. We craft each coffee to celebrate classic roast styles featuring an array of chocolate flavors complimented by a remarkably smooth finish.
Although dark roast coffees are quite common, the experiences our dark roasts offer are anything but common.
This sampler is a great choice for anyone who likes to prepare espresso at home.
Each of the coffees we have selected are medium roast coffees. Our medium roast treatment allows for perfect caramelization of the natural sugars in each coffee while still allowing the nuances of the components to shine through. Two of the selections are proprietary Barrington Coffee blends, the Gold and the (413). We have crafted these blends over a quarter century of coffee roasting.
The third coffee is a single origin coffee from a farm in India that we have worked closely with for many years, the farm is owned by the Shankar family and they call it Kalledevarapura. Each year we purchase the entire harvest of their highest grade of coffee. The Kalledevarapura is a great example of a refined espresso profile embodied in an unblended, single farm coffee which possesses all of the right characteristics for espresso preparation. You will not find this coffee for offer anywhere else in the world.
Our Women in Coffee Sampler features three coffees produced by women lead coffee projects from around the world; Ketiara (Gayo Highlands, Sumatra), Gato Negro (Cajamarca, Peru) and Amaro Gayo (Sidama, Ethiopia). These spectacular coffees have incredible stories to tell about the women responsible for their creation. Your purchase directly supports them and, in turn, helps to promote gender equity within the coffee supply chain.
