The Sittón family has been producing coffee at the Bambito Estate for over a century in the Bambito Mountains in Chiriqui, Panama. Alberto Sittón Rios acquired the family farm in 1945 and continues to operate it to this day as it transitions into its fifth generation.
The farm is rich in natural resources as well as infrastructure with two natural springs, two distinct microclimates within which they cultivate, a wet mill, a greenhouse for seedlings and a cupping lab to evaluate quality control. They compost and reuse all of their coffee processing byproducts for fertilizing their coffee orchards. In addition, they have developed their own Social Responsibility Program which includes providing breakfast each day during the school year for their local elementary school students and food and gift giving during the holiday season.
Over the years, Bambito Estate has won numerous awards kicking off with a stunning 2nd Place at the 2006 Best of Panama and, more recently, the 2019 Best of Panama Auction as well as 3rd Place at the 2020 Best of Panama.
We imported a portion of this year’s Caturra and Catuai harvest. As with so many of our coffees, you would be hard pressed to find this coffee anywhere in North America other than right here at Barrington Coffee!
After repose, we seal this coffee in Grain-Pro barrier packaging in Guatemala and then send on its way to our Roastery where we preserve the green coffee under hermetic seal until it is roasted as part of our Barrington Green Seal Program© .
