Where: Our Roastery is located in the Berkshires, 1.5 miles off of Mass Pike Exit 2 at 165 Quarry Hill Road in Lee, MA.

This workshop will explore the precise process of creating the most concentrated of coffee based beverages, espresso.

Overview
-Espresso roast profiling with a focus on flavor and balance
-Proper espresso extraction technique
-Practical approach to milk steaming technique and latte art

Part I – Espresso Fundamentals – Espresso Extraction, Theory and Practice

The primary topics of this segment will include high pressure/high temperature percolation, espresso flavor profiling, blending, roast style, importance of off-gassing and an overview of the function of the electrical and mechanical components used to prepare espresso; the espresso machine and the espresso grinder.

A presentation will be given demonstrating the variables involved in proper espresso extraction using our signature Barrington Gold Espresso Blend.

This segment will be will conclude with each participant actively undertaking espresso preparation. Visual cues, aromas, tastes, espresso presentation and drink recipes will all be addressed.

The goal of this workshop is to enable each participant to recognize and control the variables involved in espresso preparation with the primary objective of producing consistent quality espresso shots.

Part II – Espresso Milk Steaming Techniques

This segment offers a hands-on approach to milk texturing and latte art. Through a practical approach, participants will familiarize themselves with the subtleties of milk steaming. The primary focus of this segment is to help each participant to developing a method that ensures quality and consistency in espresso based drink preparation.
