Flavors of dried blueberry, roasted cumin, tart strawberry, cannabis, cherry tobacco, cedar and vanilla. Soft, butter pastry the long.
This coffee has been prepared by the Bura’a Community who farm the land surrounding Jabal Bura’a, a granitic mountain that peaks at over 7200’. In 2011, this area became listed as one of UNESCO’s biosphere reserves because of its “rare, vulnerable and endemic plant species”.
The coffee here is traditionally grown on stone terraced steppes that ascend the steep mountainside of Jabal Bura’a. After picking, the cherry is sun dried on the rooftops of homes and outbuildings. Wild Yemeni Burrai varieties have been cultivated here for centuries and comprise the majority of this lot along with a portion of the small seed mutation known as Mokka. We have Ms. Fatoum Muslot of the Pearl of Tehama Company to thank for this coffee as she was responsible for its sourcing and procurement.
After repose, we seal this coffee in Grain-Pro barrier packaging in Yemen and then send on its way to our Roastery where we preserve the green coffee under hermetic seal until it is roasted as part of our Barrington Green Seal Program© .
The Bura’a is available as a part of our 2019 Spring Curated Collection. This Collection includes smaller, 4 ounce bags of three particularly exotic coffees; Lekali from the Nuwakot District in Nepal, Barichu Double from Nyeri, Kenya and and Bura’a from Al Hudaydah Governorate, Yemen. We have designed this collection to inspire every coffee lover along their culinary journey. The Curated Collection will be roasted and sent only on Wednesday of each week.
