Inviting savory and delicately dried floral aroma with great vibrancy and flavors of toasted nut, graham and cinnamon in the long. Silky mouthfeel.
We have acquired this Selection 9 variety (SL-9) micro-lot in its entirety. The SL-9 cultivar descends from an Ethiopian arabica variety called Tafarikela. SL-9 is a little known Coffea arabica variety as it is not commonly cultivated outside of India. It is known for its remarkable cup qualities and has won the highest awards among Indian coffees. The lot comprises fifteen bags which translates to approximately 1,620 pounds of roasted coffee.
The Devon Selection 9 has been shade grown under the attentive and ecologically considerate guidance of Roshin Varghese and the Badnekan Group. The Devon Estate is one of several farms that comprise Badnekhan. The Varghese Family has stewarded this land since the 1940’s. To this day, Devon is a carefully managed polyculture forest farm and their coffee is cultivated without the use of pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers.
This coffee shines in the press and as espresso. For further details or suggestions for preparation check out our Tips.
After repose, we seal this coffee in Grain-Pro barrier packaging in India and then send on its way to our Roastery where we preserve the green coffee under hermetic seal until it is roasted as part of our Barrington Green Seal Program© .
