Complex aroma with electric acidity, distinct minerality pushing toward briny, creamy body and flavors of red raspberry, lime, plum, apple, licorice, caramel and roasted nut. Long finish holds into the cooling cup. Very refreshing iced.
The Incuti is produced by the 400 growers that comprise the Incuti Group in Kayanza, Burundi. The area that they cultivate is very high in altitude at over 6200’. Their growing and processing methodology includes organic production, triple washed processing and a sensitive combination of shade and sun drying on raised beds to optimize the initial curing process. In the Kirundi language, Incuti means relatives and friends.
For the fourth year in a row we have secured 5 bags of this year’s washed micro-lot. This year’s harvest is even deeper and more saturated than the last.
We have had the good fortune to source this coffee through Burundi’s specialty coffee ambassador, Jeanine Niyonzima. Jeanine is first generation Burundian. She has devoted her life’s work to fighting poverty, empowering women, educating youth and providing hope through building long-term social, educational and economic programs in the genocide ravaged nation of Burundi.
You can learn more about the invaluable work that Jeanine does through the organization that she founded called Burundi Friends International (BFI).
The Incuti is also available as part of our African Tasting Pair.
After repose, we seal this coffee in Grain-Pro barrier packaging in Burundi and then send it on its way to our Roastery where we preserve the green coffee under hermetic seal until it is roasted as part of our Barrington Green Seal Program©.
