We got super excited when we tasted this classic, syrupy bodied gem from the Origin Certified Javanese coffee cooperative, Koperasi Serba Usaha. It instantly reminded us of old world Javanese and Sulawesi coffees that we haven’t had the pleasure to experience in ages.
Serba Usaha is currently comprised of 150 small holder member producers. Each producers arable land is approximately 2-2.5 hectares in size, located in and around Kayumas and Taman Dadar on the Ijen Plateau in Eastern Java. Farmers in this region practice polyculture farming with beans, avocado and timber trees grown alongside and as a canopy over the coffee.
