Powerful with a deep, dark chocolate flavors, stewed plum, black cherry.

This is our darkest roast and is a blend that is based upon a classic Southern Italian tradition. This coffee is perfect for the coffee drinker that not only wants pronounced roast, but a complex world of flavors in the cup. It shows beautifully in the press, and is amazing through the stove top Moka espresso maker and the traditional Neapolitan flip.

As one of our original proprietary blends from 1993 when we founded Barrington Coffee, the Italian displays our craft as coffee roasters through our interpretation of an age old Southern Italian coffee profile. One distinct difference in our approach to this tradition is that we celebrate the individual, vibrant taste components of each of the coffees that first appeared on the Southern Italian table. From this group of Indonesian and African coffees, we select the cleanest, most focused aromatic and flavor profiles that develop favorably with dark roast treatment. Though contemporary dark roast treatment is often applied by roasters across origins, rarely does a coffee truly perform favorably with a dark roast treatment. We strive to find the hand that balances Southern Italian tradition with rich, lively qualities that shine through the roast.

Though we are careful about disclosing the components of this proprietary blend, there are a couple of additional things we would like you to know about our Italian. As part of The Barrington Coffee Origin Certified™ Program components in the Italian have been certified at origin by Control Union Certifications B.V. as having been produced without the use of pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers, as well as having been certified Fair Trade at Origin by Fairtrade International (FLO).

After repose, we seal components of the Italian in Grain-Pro barrier packaging before they make their way to our Roastery where we preserve the green coffee under hermetic seal until it is roasted as part of our Barrington Green Seal Program .

We are offering the Italian along side the French and the Commonwealth as our Dark Roast Sampler for $44.00.
