This coffee is super versatile and drinks well in a broad variety of brewing methods, either black or with milk. The name “Vienna” is a nod to the medium roast precedent established by the great cafes in Vienna, Austria.
The COMSA Cooperative is an amazing group of farmers from in and around the municipality of Marcala, Honduras who have a long tradition of sustainable agricultural production. We have worked with them for over ten years and are excited to bring you this years stellar harvest. Their holistic cultivation methods have helped enormously to preserve the quality of their coffee in the harsh light of the coffee leaf rust, or roya, epidemic which is currently devastating coffee crops throughout Central America.
This coffee represents a blend of varieties produced by grower members in the Cooperative. These cultivated arabica varieties include, Caturra, Bourbon, Typica, Pacas and Catuai. Each year we also celebrate coffees from extraordinary individual member coffees from within the COMSA Cooperative. The coffees produced by Seydi Argueta, Juan Cristóbal Cruz, and Esther Chavez are several that have been in our spotlight recently. Be on the lookout, we plan to offer more of these individual micro-lots later this year.
The Vienna is also available as part of our Medium Roast Sampler.
As part of The Barrington Coffee Origin Certified™ Program our Vienna has been certified at origin by Mayacert S.A. as having been produced without the use of pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers. The Vienna has also been certified fair trade by Fair Trade USA.
