Soft, sweet and ohh so smooth profile with forward toffee, caramel and roasted filbert flavors supported by a honeyed foundation. Delicate tones of milk chocolate, brown sugar, butter, cocoa, vanilla and citrus. Perfection.

This rare and exceedingly limited availability Hawaiian Kona Extra Fancy from Aloha Farms located on the Big Island of Kona is a Screen 19 sorting which includes only the very largest beans cultivated. To give a sense of the precious nature of this coffee, it takes approximately 10,000 pounds of Kona Prime coffee to produce 100 pounds of Kona Extra Fancy. All coffee is hand picked, sorted with a Satake FMS 2000 laser sorter and monitored by the State of Hawaii’s Quality Assurance Program. This year we have fifty pounds of Aloha Farms Extra Fancy available.

Coffee cultivation in Hawaii dates back to 1813 when it began on the island of Oahu. Hawaii is the only territory in the United States to produce coffee commercially, with Aloha Farms currently being the largest producer. Aloha was founded in 2009 and initially served as a roaster for Kona coffee growers. Aloha now operates a centrally located processing facility in the region and represents thirty-three independent, family operated grower partners with an average farm size of five to eight acres.

Aloha’s growing methodology centers around the sustainable support of honeybees and other pollinator species. All producer partners cultivate coffee without the use of pesticides or herbicides.

After repose, this coffee is sealed in Grain-Pro barrier packaging in Hawaii and then sent on its way to our Roastery where we preserve the green coffee under hermetic seal until it is roasted as part of our Barrington Green Seal Program© .
