Casas de la Alegría: 2025–2026 Impact Report

During Costa Rica’s 2025–2026 coffee harvest, the Casas de la Alegría program provided safe, supportive childcare for 1,761 children from 378 coffee-growing families across 18 centers in the Tarrazú region.

The program helps protect children from the risks associated with agricultural work while giving parents the opportunity to participate in the seasonal coffee harvest.

The report below highlights the program’s impact, including nutrition and health services, educational and recreational activities, infrastructure improvements, and collaboration with local and national institutions. It also documents the program’s role in preventing child labor, supporting migrant coffee-growing families, and creating seasonal employment for 65 local women.
